Our board of local advocates and amputees who are passionate about amputees living the fullest life possible.

President and Co-Founder
Denise Garten
Denise is an eight-year survivor of a traumatic accident. With a left leg above the knee amputation, she continued on and adjusted to a new normal. Three years later she co-founded Southwest Michigan Amputee Resource Group.
Along with running this non-profit, Denise is a mother to a very warm hearted son and has a 35 year career in Financial Advising.

Josh Fisher
Josh is one of our resident "normies". Along with co-founding SMARG, he is a physical therapist working to restore people to their best physical state. He lives in Kalamazoo with his family.

Michael Huber
Mike Huber is a 30-year left leg below knee amputee from a motor vehicle accident. Mike helps us run our online events, manages our email lists, and Facebook pages. He is an active triathlete and enjoys doing things out-of-doors. He lives in Kalamazoo and works in learning design and education.
